Processing through the community with the Blessed Sacrament on the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) is a venerable Church tradition. The procession is an outward demonstration of Catholic faith and belief in the Real Presence of the Risen Christ, under the appearance of the Consecrated Host.
This year all the parishes in the area invite you to participate in our first Corpus Christi Procession on Sunday, June 23. The procession will be made up of clergy, Catholic groups and organizations, and lay people and their families in our area. Children in First Communion dress are also invited to participate. The Most Holy Eucharist will be held in a processional monstrance protected by a decorated canopy. We will begin with a Holy Hour at St. Peter Church at 1pm. The Procession will commence at 2pm. We will make our way through Danbury and end at St. Joseph Church. Transportation to and from the Patriot Garage on Liberty Street will be provided.
