SYNOD
How Can We Participate in the 2021–2023 Synod Process Here at St. Mary’s?
As we’ve been discussing over the past few weeks, Pope Francis has opened a 2021–2023
synod process, inviting all the faithful to participate.
We’ll be offering several opportunities to participate in the synod process here at St. Mary’s,
coordinated by our four parish delegates:
Deacon Eric Keener, Kathleen Keener, Diane
Herzman, and Michael Shea.
The input shared at the parish level will be summarized anonymously and shared with the Diocese, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and ultimately the Vatican in Rome. We encourage all St. Mary’s parishioners to participate!
Please consider the following opportunities to provide input:
- “Large group” listening sessions . We will be holding two large group listening sessions in the Church Hall, on Thursday, January 27 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and on February 5th from 1:30pm to 3:00pm. You can choose whichever session works best for your schedule. Each session will begin with a brief prayer and reflection, followed by table sharing facilitated by trained volunteers.
- Small group listening sessions . For those who are more comfortable sharing their input in a smaller setting, we will offer separate small group sessions limited to five to ten participants. Timing and availability of these sessions will depend on the level of interest.
- Electronic sharing . If you would prefer to share your input electronically, you can email it to stmarybethelsynod@gmail.com and it will be incorporated into our parish summary. Or, fill out the Share Your Voice form below to email directly to stmarybethelsynod@gmail.com. You can also submit input at the bottom of the following page on the diocesan Formation Reimagined website, but note that responses submitted via the website will not be included in our parish summary: https://formationreimagined.org/synod-on-synodality.
- One-on-one sharing . If you are uncomfortable sharing in any of the above venues, one of our parish delegates may be able to meet with you one-on-one as time and availability allow.
